Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 19, 2026
Version: 2026-07-19

Native Expressions helps people translate, explain, save, listen to, and practice natural-language expressions. This Privacy Policy explains how Native Expressions (“we,” “us,” or “our”), handles personal information when you use the Native Expressions mobile application and related services (the “Service”).

1. Information we collect

1.1 Account and profile information

When you create or use an account, we may receive and store your account ID, email address, phone number (if supported), username, nickname, profile photo, native and learning languages, account role, and subscription status.

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the provider account identifier, authentication token, and information you authorize that provider to share, such as your email address, name, or profile photo. Apple may provide a relay email address when you use Hide My Email. Google and Apple independently handle information under their own privacy policies.

1.2 Learning content and user input

We process words, phrases, sentences, language selections, and other text you submit to generate translations, corrections, natural-expression variants, explanations, examples, usage notes, and spoken audio. Your input can contain personal or sensitive information if you choose to include it. Please do not submit information you do not have the right to use or information that is not needed for language learning.

If you save content, we store the saved expressions and explanations together with folders, folder names, tags, pin state, language metadata, and related generated content so your library is available across devices.

1.3 Photos and audio

If you choose a profile photo, the app accesses the selected image, resizes it on your device, and uploads the resulting avatar to our server.

If you use pronunciation practice, the app asks for microphone permission and records your voice into temporary storage on your device so you can play it back and compare it with model pronunciation. In the app version covered by this policy, pronunciation-practice recordings are not uploaded to us. They may remain in temporary app storage until replaced, removed by the operating system, or the app is uninstalled. Denying microphone permission only disables the recording feature.

Text selected for model pronunciation is sent to our server to generate or retrieve text-to-speech audio and word-timing information. Generated model audio is not a recording of your voice.

1.4 Purchases and subscriptions

Apple App Store or Google Play processes your payment. We do not receive your full payment-card or bank-account details. We may receive and store product and transaction identifiers, purchase date and status, subscription period, platform, and receipt or verification data so we can validate purchases, provide premium access, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and maintain billing records.

1.5 Device, network, and local information

When the app communicates with our servers, we and our infrastructure providers may process standard network and request information, such as IP address, request time, endpoint, response status, and security logs. We use this information to deliver, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the Service.

The app stores a session cookie and settings such as your selected interface language on your device. It may also store limited purchase-processing state and temporary text-to-speech files or metadata needed for app functionality.

The reviewed version of the app does not include third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs. We do not use personal information from the Service for cross-context behavioral advertising.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to perform our contract with you, comply with legal obligations, protect our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, and, where required, based on your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out lawfully.

3. How we disclose information

We may disclose information only as described below:

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. International processing

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use an approved transfer mechanism and supplementary protections, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your information.

5. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Account and saved-library content is generally retained while your account is active. Different periods may apply to generated but unsaved content, generated audio, server and security logs, purchase records, support correspondence, and backups based on operational, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, tax, accounting, and legal requirements.

When you delete content or your account, we delete or de-identify associated information within [PRODUCTION DELETION PERIOD], unless retention is required or permitted by law. Residual copies may remain in protected backups until [BACKUP EXPIRY PERIOD] and are not returned to active use except for recovery or security purposes. We may retain de-identified information that cannot reasonably be linked to you.

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. Production communications must use HTTPS, and access to production systems is restricted according to business need. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device and sign-in account secure and should notify us if you suspect unauthorized use.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information; receive a portable copy; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision about a request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

You can change your nickname, avatar, language preferences, and other available settings in the app. You can delete individual saved items from your library. To delete your account, use Profile > Delete account. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Deleting your Native Expressions account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google. Cancel it separately in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. The relevant store controls charges and refunds.

For any privacy request, email hkadeveloper@gmail.com. Authorized agents may submit requests where local law allows. We may retain limited information needed to document and comply with a request.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the Service, our practices, or law. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required. If a change requires consent, we will request it before applying the change to the relevant processing.
